Daja fell in love with music and singing at a young age, Her mother was in several local singing groups when she was a little girl and she use to tag along to all her mother’s group rehearsals. In elementary school it became very evident to her school choir teacher that Daja was vocally talented, and began giving her solos and working with her more one her voice. When she got to middle school Daja’s vocal telent had grown to another level, belting out tunes from the like of Aretha Franklin Natural Woman, and The Supremes Stop In the name of love and taking into some hip hop dancing and cheerleading as well . Through high school Daja became very popular amongst her peers for being an all aroung talented person. She participated in ensemble choir, cheerleading, and became the captain of the Pep club dance team as a sophomore. Along with a few friend she also competed in school and local talent shows as a group called B.A.Ps. All the while taking up Jazz and modern dance classes at the Christina Cultural arts Center in downtown Wilmington Delaware. After High School Daja quickly became focused on making her dreams to be a pop start very seriously. She went into acting school in NYC just become that triple threat that all of her idols like Beyonce and Brandy Norwood were. In 2008 Daja wrote a song for her first mix tape project titled Mean Walk, and told the producer it just didn’t seem complete. So she decided to reach out to Queens rapper Nicki Minaj, who had been buzzing really big in NYC. Nicki agreed to do the song with Daja, and the ending product turned out really hot. The song has since been released on July 4th 2010 and has received some great review and has reached over 14,000 listens and counting. Daja has built a pretty solid fan base in the Tri-state area, and in New York, through performing live and posting videos on her YouTube channel which has been visited over 25 thousand times. Daja has since wrote songs for several other local artist, and has collaborated with Babs Bunny, a member from P.Diddy’s making the band. Collaborated with a hot buzzing rapper named Chris Webby to name a few. She is now getting ready for a late November release of her 1st mix tape with the prospective title of Chocolate Covered Dream/Beast.
